Avery showed off her tap dance skills on Saturday, June 10th when she was a "heart" during the Sheena's Dance Academy recital. We couldn't believe how much she got into being on stage. (Wait a minute, we are talking about Avery, right! ha! Strike that last comment.)
The day before was a full dress rehearsal where we were allowed to video tape or take pictures of her class. Our girl truly can strike a pose...
And if those weren't enough, here is Avery telling the other little girls what they are supposed to be doing during the performance. Talented and bossy...leadership skills, right?!

What a cute litter dancer! She really looks into performing. It makes me want to run out and sign Riley up, even though she is still a wobbly walker!

It's such a hoot to watch all of the little ones perform during the recital. There are some that just stand there and never move, some cry and run off stage, some do the routine perfectly. Then there's Avery....can't quit smiling, looking around and then realizing she's on stage for a reason. At least it hasn't gone to her head yet. We have moved strictly into ballet now and left tap behind. She goes every Saturday morning at 8:45 for a 45-minute group lesson. I'm hoping that this will give her a little more grace and poise. It was a tough call between this and gymnastics. There's so much pressure around here to have them start these programs early so they can hit the ground running for cheerleading, etc. Have you found a dance studio or facility that offers dance classes for Riley? The youngest they will enroll them here is 2 1/2. So, we'll probably put Bella in a summer camp or class so she can get her feet wet. ha! Feet...
I think between 2 and 3 is a good time for dance class, we will probably start looking when Riley is about that age. I am also thinking about getting her into a 2 year old preschool next year. She is such a social butterfly I think she would love it. I haven’t talked to Michael about it, because of the money thing, but I think we should be able to afford a 2 day a week program. We will see. But I definitely think that keeping children busy with activities keeps them out of trouble!
